No, most people aren’t sociopaths.
But it isn’t just that they are passive servants of Evil, and it isn’t just that they flatly refuse to risk anything to resist Evil in real life.
A clear majority of people’s monkey brains are very actively focused on identifying what the society in which they live approves of and disapproves of, so they can obey that, so they can get rewarded for their obedience, like good little doggies.
Another several percent of people are far more Evil than Good.
Considering the fact of that social environment, the people who are far more Evil than Good are inevitably going to be very over-represented in positions of decision-making power.
At least a few percent, and maybe several, are very Good in some ways, but also very Evil in some ways. If they win, Evil keeps winning, just in a slightly different form. Not a net gain.
That leaves about 15 percent of people who are some mix of Good and Evil that they don’t fit into any of the other three categories. But the vast majority of them are certainly not saints.
